During the Spieker Point Inc. open house, Walter Schwabe from FusedLogic TV interviews Greg Campbell, President & CEO of Spieker Point about the origin of the name Spieker Point.

Walter Schwabe:

“We’re here at Spieker Point Software Engineering and Solutions at their open house and eighth anniversary. Welcome to fusedlogic. I’m your host Walter Schwabe. I’m joined by Greg Campbell of Spieker Point. We’re on location at their open house today. Greg welcome to the show.”

Greg Campbell:

“Thanks so much Walter. Thanks for being here with us.”

Walter Schwabe:

“Well thank you. Let’s talk about Spieker Point. The name is very unique. Give us some background on that.”

Greg Campbell:

“It is. That’s a great question. So Spieker Point or Spieker is a German mathematician and he wrote a book that Einstein called the Holy Grail of Euclidean geometry and from that you know it became famous he became a famous mathematician now one of his claims to fame was coming up with the first algorithms for finding the center of a triangle and as a development company we’re always up against a three sided polygon triangle in this case representing the sides representing the functionality that we’re designing the cost associated with that and the quality of the software so it’s the old adage you say to a customer you can have it good, fast or cheap pick two and the other is defined by the project.”

Walter Schwabe:

“Boy there’s a lot of hidden meaning in that name that’s very cool.”

Greg Campbell:

“There it is yeah and sometimes it’s interesting trying to spell it to others but it works out.”

Walter Schwabe:

“I mean for the mathematician fan they’re gonna really dig that. It must be an interesting story to tell to new clients who maybe ask you about it.”

Greg Campbell:

“Absolutely yeah we get a lot of traction with the name in it certainly is a great ice-breaker.”

Walter Schwabe:

“Thanks Greg. Thank you for watching fused logic TV. I’m your host Walter Schwabe. Stay tuned for more coming from the open house.”
