About The Position
Spieker Point is seeking to add a talented senior java developer onto our dynamic team in our Edmonton office. We are searching for individuals with a passion for applying software to customer problems.
In this role, you will be working on our development team to:
- Configure and customize components of our platform, DECK DecisionWare, to deliver world-class software products to our customers
- Extend and maintain our DECK DecisionWare product at the core, and its modules according to our road-map

- You know the software game is a never-ending learning experience, and you’re “all in” with that
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- 5+ years experience developing in Java
- Proficiency working in Eclipse IDE
- Knowledge of JEE application development
- Experience with MySQL, MongoDB and other database technologies
- You have extensive experience working in an Agile software environment
- Familiar with various development processes and tools including branching strategies, code reviews, continuous delivery, GIT
- A solid understanding of current software delivery techniques, methodologies and modern programming frameworks
- You’re comfortable with a product that is decoupled
Experience with the following would be considered an asset:
- Spring framework
- Grails
- Mobile app development
- Integration patterns such as Services Oriented Architectures (SOA), web services (SOAP vs REST)
- Apache Kafka or similar
- Leading development activities for complex projects
